Council

The City of Burton City Council acts as the legislative branch of our government, as well as its policy-making body. The Council looks to the city's goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning. The Council's goal is to do the very best to represent their constituents after they've seen to the needs of the city as a whole.

The City of Burton General Election (if required) will be held on May 2, 2020. That election will be for Councilmembers Positions 2, 3, & 5.  The following dates apply to that election:

First Day to File for a Place on the General Election Ballot - Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Last Day  to File for a Place on the General Election Ballot - Friday, February 14, 2020

Last Day to File a Declaration of Write-In Candidacy - Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Last Day to Register to Vote - Thursday, April 2, 2020

If an Election is required, Early Voting will be at City Hall from Monday, April 20, 2020 until Tuesday, April 28, 2020 from 9am until 3pm. The Last Day to Apply for a Ballot by mail is Monday, April 20, 2020 and, if voting by mail, your ballot must be received by 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2020 (ELECTION DAY).
