We now have the ability to automatically charge a credit card or debit your bank account monthly for the amount of your utility bill. Please come into the office to sign an “Automatic Charge or Debit” form.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CITY OF BURTON UTILITIES

DEPOSITS

All users of City-owned utilities shall be required to make a deposit prior to obtaining utility service as follow:

  • Residential Customers who are owner-occupants with any City owned utility service shall pay a cash deposit of $150.00.
  • Residential customers who are non-owner occupants, renters, and/or tenants with any City owner utility service shall pay a cash deposit of $250.00.
  • Residential customers regardless of owner or non-owner shall pay a $10.00 non-refundable Administrative Fee

If a residential customer has service at the effective date of this policy, said customer shall not be required to increase his deposit unless service is disconnected. No interest will be paid on deposits. Upon disconnection of service, the deposit will be applied to the final bill and the excess, if any, shall be refunded to the customer.

GENERAL SERVICE

RATE SCHEDULE - WATER

APPLICABILITY

This rate is available to all residential customers receiving water service through a permanent meter installation.

AVAILABILITY

The rate is available to all customers located within the corporate limits of the City of Burton, Texas.

RATES

First 4,000 gallons or less $32.00
Next 6,000 gallons will be $1.95 per 1,000 gallons
After 10,000 gallons will be $2.60 per 1,000 gallons

NON-CITY RESIDENTS

Non-city residents receiving water the rate is set at $35.00 for the first 4,000 gallons or less. Usage over 4,000 will follow same rate as in the City.

 

 

MINIMUM CHARGES

The minimum monthly bill shall be $32.00 for city resident customers only.

The minimum monthly bill shall be $35.00 for non-resident customers only.

TERMS OF PAYMENT

All rates specified herein are net, and the gross rate for delinquent payments are ten (10%) of the billed amount of the water bill and sewer bill. Each bill for service is due within fifteen (15) days after issuance unless such day falls on a holiday or weekend, in which case payment is due on the next work day. If full payment is not received at the City’s offices on or before the due date, all of the customer’s utility services will be considered delinquent and subject to disconnection. Prior to disconnection, the customer has a right to notice and hearing with a responsible employee with sufficient authority to resolve the dispute. Reconnection fee will be $35.00.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

  1. Service rendered under this schedule is subject to the City’s Rules and Regulations in effect from time to time.
  2. Service will be rendered under this schedule when the City has facilities immediately adjacent to the customer’s premises. If a main line extension is required to provide service to the customer, the customer’s cost of the extension will be determined in accordance with the City’s extension policy in effect at the time of the extension.

RESIDENTIAL WASTEWATER SERVICE

RATE SCHEDULE

APPLICABILITY

This rate is applicable for wastewater service used exclusively for residential and commercial purposes for the City of Burton.

AVAILABILITY

The rate is available for all citizens where each dwelling unit is individually metered for water, located within the wastewater service area of the City of Burton subject to the rules and regulations, policies and rates established by the City of Burton.

MONTHLY RATES

The monthly rate shall be the sum of the monthly customer charge plus the monthly volume charge, as shown below:

Customer charge-

The customer charge shall include 4,000 gallons or less $23.00 per month or part thereof.

Volume charge in excess of 4,000 gallons each 1,000 over will be $3.08, or any part thereof.

 

MINIMUM CHARGES

The minimum monthly charge shall be the greater of the following:

  1. The customer charge plus the volume charge; or
  2. The amount specified in any contract between the customer and the City.

DETERMINATION OF WATER USAGE

The water usage for the purpose of calculating the volume charge shall be the average metered water consumption for the three preceding months of December, January, and February. This average consumption shall be used for billing purposes for the twelve-month period beginning with the first cycle for wastewater service in April.

RESIDENTIAL TRASH PICKUP

The City of Burton has a contract with Texas Commercial Waste to collect the garbage from the City of Burton citizens.

 

Effective October 1, 2012, the rate for residential pickup will be $14.00 a month.

 

RULES FOR TRASH PICKUP

  • All trash must be in trash bags. We will pick up out of trash cans as long as everything in the cans are in trash bags. The bags mush be placed roadside by 8:00 am on Tuesday. The driver can come through any time after that and his timing may vary from week to week.
  • There is a six (6) bag limit per week (33 gallon bags) with a maximum weight of 30 pounds per bag
  • Only normal household garbage can be picked up – no brush, wood products, lumber, sawdust, grass clippings, construction/remodel debris, roofing/building materials, metal, bulky items (tires, furniture, appliances, carpet, etc.), liquid waste (oil, paint, grease, etc.), or hazardous materials (car batteries, pool chemicals, etc.)

COMMERCIAL TRASH PICKUP

Effective October 1, 2012, the monthly rates for commercial trash pickup are as follows:

            Handpick                                 $23.00

            3 yard dumpster                      $75.00

            6 yard dumpster                      $103.00

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL WATER RATES

  • This rate is available to all customers located within the corporate limits of the City of Burton, Texas who are receiving water service through a permanent meter installation.

                  First 4,000 gallons or less                       $28.00 (minimum monthly bill)

                  Next 6,000 gallons will be                      $1.95 per 1,000 gallons

                  After 10,000 gallons will be                   $2.60 per 1,000 gallons

  • This rate is available to all Non-city customers located outside of the corporate limits of the City of Burton, Texas who are receiving water service through a permanent meter installation.

                      First 4,000 gallons or less                       $31.00 (minimum monthly bill)

                      Next 6,000 gallons will be                      $1.95 per 1,000 gallons

                      After 10,000 gallons will be                   $2.60 per 1,000 gallons
